Google’s Gemini Can Now Remember Your Queries And Personal Details: Here's How
Gemini will be enhanced with a new feature that will enable it to remember particular details about a user’s preferences and interests. A new version of the AI chatbot came out recently. One can use this to ask Gemini to remember personal information, and it will continue to adjust its responses in future exchanges when they do. This feature is accessible via the Gemini chatbot app and website, but is currently exclusive to its premium members.
In AI models, one of the most requested functions is the memory function. With this feature, the user doesn’t have to repeatedly enter the information in prompts because the AI can remember specific information across sessions. Anything from your name and birthday to their preferred response style and occupation can be included in this data. This restriction is also a significant barrier that keeps chatbots from becoming human companions or helpers because each new exchange begins with a blank slate.
Artificial intelligence companies have recently realised this flaw and started developing this feature. The Memory feature was added to ChatGPT by OpenAI earlier this year. A comparable feature is also offered by chatbots from other significant companies, such as Microsoft and Anthropic.
However, even if the user specifically instructed Google’s AI bot to remember prior conversations, it was unable to do so. However, customers will finally be able to accomplish this with the Tuesday update rollout.
The new feature, called Saved Info, was described by the tech giant on its updates page. Gemini can be instructed to remember users’ preferences and interests by using this. You can do this manually by going to the Saved Info page, or you can do it naturally by putting “Remember" or “Do not forget" before the information.
Once Gemini has stored a piece of information, it will remember it for all subsequent interactions. Additionally, users can utilise this feature by organising and personalising the AI chatbot’s responses. According to Google, any data that users give with Gemini can be seen, edited, or deleted. The AI chatbot will also show the Saved Info on the screen anytime it utilises it.
The company notably did not disclose whether the AI will be educated on the data given with Gemini via Saved Info or whether it can access the data. As well, it’s unclear if removing a piece of data from Saved Info will also remove it from Google’s computers. Gemini Advanced subscribers can presently access the feature in English. You can buy the membership as part of the Google One AI Premium Plan, which is noteworthy.
