Big Surprises Coming: Google Chief Sundar Pichai Says Search Will Change In 2025
Google is slowly building a strong core of AI products that are available to businesses and consumers. The company’s Gemini AI push started slow but the pace of evolution is evident with new features rolling out over the course of this year.
But Google is not going to ease up on its plans in 2025, with the company’s CEO Sundar Pichai promising big changes coming to Search for users next year. Pichai was quoted saying, Google Search will change profoundly in 2025 during an event in New York this week. He even mentioned that people will be surprised with what Search can do early next year, compared to what it does today.
Google Vs Microsoft: Pichai Takes Dig At Rivals
While Pichai didn’t reveal much about the big surprises in Search, he did manage to take a sly dig at rivals Microsoft.
He was asked about Satya Nadella’s comment on Google, who said, the company should be the default winner in the AI race. Finally getting a chance to speak in public about this statement, Pichai said, “I would love to do a side-by-side comparison of Microsoft’s own models and ours." He didn’t end there with the digs. Pichai also pointed out that Microsoft is using someone else’s model and he’s not wrong.
The whole world knows Microsoft has relied on OpenAI for the AI models that have powered Copilot, Edge ChatGPT integration and more. The company has invested billions in the Sam Altman-run AI giant, who was, at one point, on the verge of teaming up with Nadella and Co for a big push in AI.
Google’s AI journey hasn’t been without its hurdles and challenges. The Search AI hallucinations prompted Pichai to accept the mistakes and forced the company to push its release before everything was in order. Google is also planning for the Gemini AI successor, which could be part of the new Search era for the company.
