iOS 18.2 Update: AI Features Coming Your Way
ChatGPT, Meet Siri
Apple and OpenAI announced their deal to bring ChatGPT to iPhones at the WWDC 2024 keynote, and we are finally seeing its results with the iOS 18.2 beta version. Siri can now pass on requests to handle some AI tasks to ChatGPT which will then transmit data out of Apple’s server.
That’s not all, Siri is now able to take queries regarding the image open on the screen and give you the details. Having said that, Apple clearly explains that if you use ChatGPT without an account, OpenAI will not store requests, and will not use the data for model training.
Genmojis for Everyone
iPhone users have the power to create Genmojis with iOS 18.2 which till now is limited to viewing and knowing more details about them. Genmoji isn’t different from the regular emojis, but you have the classic Apple touch with it.
Just type your description for the genmoji and Apple’s AI will do the heavy work to give you quick results. “With images from their photo library, users can take Genmoji even further by creating one that is inspired by a friend or family member," Apple explains its use in the post.
New Camera Powers
Apple’s big reason to have the camera control button on the iPhone 16 series is to help with the visual intelligence of its AI tools. Just by pointing the camera at a cafe, you can get the reviews, get more details for the places and even activate ChatGPT with some queries. “Camera control also allows users to search Google so they can see where they can buy an item, or benefit from ChatGPT’s problem-solving skills to ask for an explanation about a complex diagram," the post adds.
More AI Writing Guide
Apple is giving AI more styles to help you write materials. Describe Your Change gives users even more flexibility and control when they’d like to make their writing sound more expressive.
They can select the tone and even change the type of content, for instance, convert an email into a poem.
There’s a lot more coming our way in 2025, especially the much-awaited Siri support in Indian English and other features from the company.
