iPhone 17 Air With Single Camera To Cost Less Than The 17 Pro? Here’s What We Know

Apple’s iPhone sales have rocketed in markets like India but its biggest regions have seen demand come down. The company is ready to bring a new iPhone model to the market to arrest this slide and reports suggest Apple could have some good news for the future buyers. The recent iPhone launches have banked on incremental upgrades and this year, the focus has been on AI. But 2025 could be different as the company looks to show its mettle. Reports say the iPhone 17 Air is being thrown into the firing line with the right push.

iPhone 17 Air: What It Might Offer

The new iPhone moniker is supposedly going to replace the Plus model next year. The new model is said to be two millimetres thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro model, making it one of the thinnest by the company. And now, a WSJ report says the iPhone 17 Air will cost less than the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max variants.

Reports have highlighted that the tech giant is also expected to design a new chip specialised for the iPhone 17 Air that will be more efficient in performance and will take less space inside the phone. This extra space may allow Apple to make the iPhone 17 Air thinner and fit other crucial components without any compromises, such as battery, camera, or display.

Considering the new Air model will be replacing the Plus that shouldn’t come as a surprise but going by the hype around this rumoured model, and the introduction of an Air into the iPhone family, Apple could have played it differently.

After all, most reports suggest you will get an OLED 120Hz ProMotion display, and come with 8GB RAM to run the Apple Intelligence features. But the fact that Apple could offer just a single 48MP camera at the back means the pricing has to work out with its own standards in mind.

Having said that, the biggest concern with the size of the Air model is related to the battery that Apple can manage to pack inside the device, and yes, the news about it being an e-SIM model suggests its availability will be limited to select regions. We’ll surely have more updates on this device as the year settles in.
