iPhone SE 4 To Launch As iPhone 16E In 2025? Here's What We Know

Apple’s biggest iPhone launch expected in 2025 could have a surprising twist. The 4th generation iPhone SE is believed to be the most affordable model with Apple’s in-house 5G modem and support for AI. It will also be the much-awaited successor to the 2022 iPhone SE version. Now, in the latest development, it has been mentioned that Apple could ditch the SE moniker for its new model and make it part of the iPhone 16 series itself.

Apple could launch the upcoming iPhone SE lineup with a new name, iPhone 16e. Additionally, reports suggest that the new device could undergo a major redesign and align itself more closely with the flagship lineup of Apple. With a premium mid-range price tag and features like Apple Intelligence and other AI-powered tools as standard variants, the company may no longer see the SE branding fit into its equation.

Going into details, tipster Fixed focus digital, shared a post on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo claiming that Apple could rebrand the next iPhone SE as the iPhone 16e. The tipster further adds that the iPhone 16e will be equipped with the same screen size as the standard iPhone 16 and feature a full-screen design.

For those unaware, Apple launched three SE-branded phones till now. Starting with the original iPhone SE in 2016, followed by the 2nd generation in 2020 and the third iteration in 2022. Now, the iPhone 16e would be the fifth model in the lineup, joining the current iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

iPhone SE 4 Design, Features

It is rumoured that the upcoming iPhone SE model will feature an iPhone 14-like design, which means users can expect over one or two upgrades. The iPhone SE 4 could feature a modern design like the iPhone 14 with a wide notch and possibly support Face ID.

The device is tipped to sport a 6.1-inch Super XDR display with a standard 60Hz refresh rate. It could be powered by the in-house A18 chipset and may have Apple Intelligence support like the standard iPhone 16 variants. Most leaks hint that the handset may house a single camera unit, but even then upgrading that to a 48 MP Sony Exmor IMX904 sensor and a 12 MP front camera sensor will surely give it a big lift from the existing 8 MP sensor.

The phone will have a 3,279 mAh battery that supports 20W wired fast charging and Qi2 and MagSafe wireless charging. Other features include an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

The iPhone SE 4/iPhone 16e model will reportedly come at a price tag between $499 (approximately Rs 42,220) and $549 (around Rs 46,400), making it the most-affordable iPhone model to offer the new AI features.
